Alternate Shot (also called “foursomes”) is an interesting, less commonly played 2-player format. It’s best thought of as golf “leapfrog” due to the way the teammates take turns hitting the ball.
It’s uncommon to see a full 18-hole round of this format in casual amateur weekend golf. It’s not as forgiving for beginners and is best combined with other formats to get more bang for buck.
